Merucry Movie Review
After almost 30 years, talented director Karthik Subbaraj is trying to recreate the magic of 1987’s speechless Indian classic film Pushpak, featuring Kamal Haasan and Amala, with Mercury. For the first time, choreographer, actor and director Prabhu Deva will be seen playing a negative role in it. The movie has released today, amidst huge expectations, let’s see whether it impressed the audience or not.
Mercury Movie Story:
In 1992, due to a Mercury poisoning in Pondicherry, more than 84 people died and because of that chemical effect, many have turned into physically and mentally challenged people. Many children, who belong to that place turned into hearing impaired, blind and dumb. Five students (Sanath Reddy, Deepak Paramesh, Sashank, Anish, and Indhuja) who belong to the same batch meet after 20 years. When they are enjoying their get-together, unexpectedly, Prabhu Deva enters into their lives and started troubling them. The rest of the story is who is Prabhu Deva, why he enters into their lives and what is the connection between the duo?
Apart from Prabhu Deva, the director has selected all the new faces, which might disappoint the Telugu audience and it has a lot of Tamil essence. These characters might not well connected with the Telugu audience. They even failed to give expressions as hearing impaired people during the opening scenes. They failed to create a strong impact. In negative shade, Prabhu Deva lived in that character. He proved his mettle once again and gave his best. Though, he tried to be like the lead character from Don’t Breathe through his mannerisms but failed to do so. Overall, he has created a huge impact on audience with hie spectacular performance.
Santosh Narayan’s music, especially the BGM and Mithun’s sound designing are biggest assets to this film. They have taken Prabhu Deva’s character to whole next level with their talent. They established his character in an interesting way. Tiru’s cinematography is fantastic. Director Karthik gave his best and proved his mettle with this unique concept. The audience can see his brilliance in every frame. The way Karthik designed Prabhu Deva’s character and narration will make you fall in love with his directing skills. The twists in the pre-climax and climax scenes are heart touching and these two sequences are proof that he will rule the industry in future. He has taken a typical and difficult concept but presented it in an interesting way.
Unlike other commercial and regular films, Mercury has some interesting and different content. The audience will definitely get a new experience while watching this film and, if you are a fan of routine films, they try to avoid it. Prabhu Deva is the biggest advantage to this film and carried the whole story on his shoulders with his terrific performance.
C/O Kancharapalem Telugu Movie Review
C/O Kancharapalem is the much-talked movie in the recent times that has been creating a unique buzz in the Telugu film industries. In the last few months, the makers of the movie have created a special place for the movie in terms of the promotions. Rarely we see the films like COK and we are sure that everyone will definitely fall with it or at least with any one of the characters. The best part of the film is that it talks about religion, stature, age, and love in detail without going into the controversial path. At the same time, the film also becomes identifiable and impressive in many ways.
C/O Kancharapalem Review
The film is all about a beautiful writing where some of the brilliant actors take the center stage. The debutant director Venkatesh Maha uses the local residents as artists and brought the best performances from them. The sincerity in the making of the movie is evident in every single frame. There are many situations in the film which usually look controversial in general but the director dealt them beautifully in a sensible manner by bringing a sudden realization to the audiences.
The film talks about multiple love stories and looks like an anthology film but then the film is one of its kind for sure and was not touched by anyone in the recent past. The four sub-plots of the movie that are tied up together will surely surprise us and brings a smile to our face. The film also runs away from the regular stereotypes to present a wonderful movie.
The idea of love is different for people of different ages and it is sometimes hard to present it in different angles but this movie does that. The film deals with every single aspect with a lot of maturity and sensibility giving a scope of fresh thought to us. The idea of love is different for different characters in the film and the relationship of all the characters is presented in a different manner. Every single thread is designed beautifully and the director picturizes their relationship in a poetic yet natural manner. The film was shot in sync-sound and builds an amazing atmosphere.
The only minus of the movie is that the director takes time in establishing all the characters and their backdrops. The first twenty minutes brings an ordinary feeling but then it takes us through the journey of beautiful love stories with an amazing ending.
The new cast Mohan Bhagath, Karthik Ratnam, Praveena Paruchuri, Subba Rao and Radha gave their best for the movie. The cinematographer, editor, and music director breathed life for the film. The movie has come out well and it has got some amazing moments. Also, the best part of the movie is that it reflects the lives of many.
On the whole, the film is a not to be missed experience that will definitely boost the confidence of many filmmakers to come up with different movies in the industry. Kudos to Rana and Suresh Productions for backing the project.
C/O Kancharapalem is a highly recommended film.
Narthanasala Telugu Movie Review
Narthanasala Telugu Movie Review
After scoring a much needed hit with the movie Chalo, actor Naga Shaurya is now looking to take his success forward with his new movie @Narthanasala. The film is having a decent release in both the Telugu states as well as the overseas. The film is going to have Shaurya playing the role of gay which is something very much interesting. The movie is tipped to be a full-length comedy-drama, that is going to mark the directional debut of Srinivas Chakravarthi. The film also has Kashmiri Pardesi and Yamini Bhaskar in the heroine roles. The comedy is said to be the plus point of the film. The makers did not release any trailer for the movie. Check out the review of the film here.
Radha Krishna (Naga Shaurya) runs a women self-defense training center. His father Kalamandir Kalyan (Shivaji Raja) wanted his son to get married. Radha Krishna loves Manasa (Kashmiri) but Kalyan fixes an alliance for Radha Krishna with Satya (Yamini). What did Radha Krishna do to escape the wedding? How did he overcame the troubles? What happens in the end? Forms the story of the movie.
Naga Shaurya entertained as a gay in the film. His role is impressive and was designed well by the director. Performances wise, Naga Shaurya is always good and he maintained the same with the film as well. His dialogue delivery and body language is decent. He tried his best to come up with something new that he has never played in his career in the past. Both the heroines are fit for their roles. The glamour show from them is eye feast. Kashmiri Pardesi and Yamini Bhaskar are the heroines who are good and did well in the movie. Shivaji Raja played his part well and all the other actors have given their best for the movie.
The cinematography by Vijay C Kumar is an eye feast in the film. The camera work is a major plus point in the movie. He has given his best in his craft. The editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao and Thammi Raju is neat. The music by Swara Sagar Mahathi is nice and all the songs have come out well in the film. The background score of the film is impressive too. The artwork is excellent and the production design is neat. The production values maintained by IRA Creations are grand.
Rather than the regular movies, ‘Narthanasala’ stands out as the lead role plays a gay role. The concept of hero playing gay and two heroines falling in love with him forms the story and generates fun. The scope of including comedy is high with this concept but the director failed to utilize that opportunity. His poor narration and weak execution made the fall behind. The comedy timing is another minus point. The scenes with comedians JP and Sivaji Raja were expected to be hilarious but failed to reach the expectations. The visuals and the songs can be considered as the plus points whereas the flaws in direction became the minus points of the film. The bland comedy might not impress all sections of the audience.
