Oka Kshanam Movie Review – Allu Sirish, Surabhi

Oka kshanam Movie Review

Allu Sirish is another hero from the mega family who earlier made the films Gouravam, Kotha Janta and Srirasthu Subhamastu. After being a part of 1971 in Malayalam, the actor is back now with a Telugu film titled Okka Kshanam in the direction of V.I.Anand. V.I.Anand impressed everyone with his previous movie Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada, and there are a lot of expectations on this project. The film is said to be made on the concept of parallel life as a thriller and let us check out the review of the film here.

oka kshanam review

The story of the film revolves around two couples. Jeevan (Allu Sirish) and Jyotsna (Surabhi) is one couple, and Srinivas(Avasarala Srinivas) and Swathi (Seerat Kapoor) is another couple. Jyotsna finds that Srinivas and Swathi are always undergoing a lot of disputes among themselves. She requests Jeevan to follow them to know more about their life. As Jeevan starts following them, he comes across some bitter truths which in turn become a big obstacle in his life. What happens then forms the rest of the story of the film.

Performances wise, Allu Sirish is good in the film. He has played the jovial part as well as the serious role with ease. He is sincere to the maximum part of the film and impressed everyone with his screen presence but there is a lot that he needs to improve. Both Seerat Kapoor and Surabhi looked glamorous on the screen and impressed everyone. Srinivas Avasarala has played a serious role in the movie and has impressed as per the limitations of his character. The other actors like Praveen, Satya, and few others are also good in the film. Dasari Arun Kumar played a crucial role in the movie, and he is good in his part.

The parallel life concept has been narrated well in the film by director V.I.Anand. It is also a science that most of us might not believe but it was proven in the lives of John F Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln. In the same manner V.I.Anand weaved an exciting story connecting the lives of Srinivas and Jeevan in the film. The first forty minutes of the film is spent to introduce the characters and the storyline. From the interval sequence, the film picks up the pace and sets an interesting as well as the promising premise for the second half. The second half is completely interesting with the mesmerizing screenplay. We can see the story unfolding in different ways in the second half of the film. The director completely focused on creating a good screenplay, and that is how he has come up with exciting episodes and thrilling scripts in the second half. The flashback could have been dealt nicely except that there are not many minus points in the movie. The action episodes were choreographed well and the director V.I.Anand should be appreciable for taking a new point in the film and coming out with an engaging movie.

Technical Aspects:

Technically the film is top notch. The camera work and the background music are the notable highlights in the technical department. The film is screenplay based. The director worked and took a lot of care regarding the script. There is a freshness in the text which is a good thing. V.I.Anand who is known to be a talented director has come up with another impressive movie, and it is certainly one of the best one in recent times. Watch it once.

padmaavat review

Jalaluddin Khilji establishes Khilji Empire with Delhi as capital, marries his daughter to his nephew Allahuddin. Allahuddin who is sent to fight mongols, task next to impossible, returns with success. He is then made governor of Kara. With growing thirst for power, he lays siege on Devgiri, looting almost everything from pin to women. Jalaluddin grows suspicious of his moves and pays an unexpected visit to his camp in Devgiri, which was actually anticipated by Allahuddin Khilji. Allahuddin eventually kills Jalaluddin and crowns himself as the sultan-e-hind (emperor of hind).

Meanwhile, the king of Mewar, Maharawal Ratan Singh travels to Singhal to buy some pearls for his wife Nagavati, meets Padmavathi. Padmavati being known as the most beautiful woman of then times, princess of Singhal, falls for him. They both eventually get married and travel to Chittor, capital of mewar. Ratan singh then introduces her to their chief priest Raghav Chetan, who in turn lusts for her. He watches the king and queen getting intimate and gets caught. Angered Ratan singh gets him ostracized from the kingdom. Raghav pledges revenge.

Khilji accompanied by his prime/sex slave, Mallik Kaffur, meet Raghav Ketan. Ketan describes Padmavati’s beauty in such a way that khilji plans an attack on Mewar to capture. Sets up huge camps outside the heavily fortified Chittor fort and cuts out the supplies to the city. Then patiently waits for 2 months for a right time to launch attack. Ratan Singh approaches other Rajput kings for an alliance only getting a denial as response. In a turn of events, Khilji suddenly sends out a message of peace to Ratan singh and wishes to visit the city before leaving to delhi. Agreeing to Ratan singh’s terms, Khilji comes alone, unarmed, wishes to see Padmavati. Unable to accept his wish, Ratan singh sketches out a plan to show her for a second in a mirror. Khilji then invites Ratan singh to be his guest on the day he would be leaving to delhi. Ratan as complied by rules and conditions goes unarmed, alone into the camp. Khilji abducts him to delhi using him to make padmavati surrender to him. After a brief exchange of terms and conditions, Padmavati enters Delhi with 800 best soldiers disguised as queen’s entourage. Ratan singh is rescued, meets khilji, asks him to get ready for dire consequences and leaves while the famous Gora-Badal sacrifice their lives fighting and barricading their beloved king.

Khilji now sets out for a war with the Suryavanshi rajputs. Ratan singh disheartened by the death of Gora-Badal singh, decides to go on duel against Khilji instead of whole troops fighting. As history repeats itself, khilji kills Ratan singh in an unprecedented attack from behind by Mallik kaffur.

Padmavati, upon being granted the permission of jauhar by her king, gathers all Rajput women and sacrifice their lives before khilji even reaches them. The film ends with the narrator mentioning this as the biggest defeat Khilji ever faced.

  1. Historical accuracy is questionable as there are many deviations from the original story about how things went. The roles of parrot and Devpal are completely eliminated.
  2. Shah Rukh Khan was first approached by SLB to play Allahuddin Khilji. The role somehow went to Ranveer Singh and this guy did inch to inch justice to the role. The portrayal was quite menacing and sadistic. Ranveer’s physical transformation and disappearance from media made a great impact on how the role carved out. This film solely belongs to him.
  3. Deepika as Padmavati was also the proven as the right choice. In Each and every frame she appears on the screen, we wish we had two more eyes just to look at her. She was royal, beautiful and courageous.
  4. Cinematography, above everything, is the reason for the film’s output. Ingenious use of filters, camera angles, and locations would only be possible to a Sudeep Chatterjee.

Thumbs ups:

  1. Cinematography +2
  2. Deepika, Shahid, Ranveer trio performances +3
  3. Artwork +3
  4. Direction +2

Let downs:

  1. Historical inaccuracy -2
  2. Khilji character makes audience develop a soft corner by the end. -2
  3. Runtime -1

Final Word: Watch it just as a movie for some great performances, artwork and skills.

Oranges: 5/10

Hello Telugu Movie Review – Akhil Akkineni, Kalyani Priyadarshan

Hello Movie Review

Some simple stories can be told in a complicated manner and some complicated stories can be told in a simple manner. It all depends on the director’s story-telling skills. Vikram K Kumar is one director in the film industry whom we look up at for some beautiful story-telling. The director already proved his mettle with the films like Ishtam, 13B, Manam and 24. He is now back with Hello with the young hero Akhil Akkineni.
If we look at the movie from a top view, there is hardly any story in the movie. The concept that the film projects have been witnessed by us in the past for multiple times but the way Vikram gave his magical touch is impressive. There are some doubts that the first half of the movie throws to the audiences but the second half completely clears off them and the real magic of the movie lies in the second half of the movie.
hello review
The film story is all about the destiny factor. Two childhood friends leave one another at 10 years age. What does the destiny have in store for them and will they ever meet each other forms the story of Hello? The characters that come in the story are good and likable but the only disappointment is the phone-theft angle. It is neither impressive nor convincing. There is no proper judgment for Ajay’s role in the movie. Except for that, the movie appeals to a larger extent.
We come to know that the lead actors will anyhow meet one another in the end but the thrilling ride that takes place in between is what makes us curious about the movie. The emotions, love, family elements were mixed well in the plot. The childhood flashback episode is a bit long but it did not give us the feeling of boredom. The chasing sequences and the stunts performed by Akhil will surely make us thrilled. Some of the logics were neglected but in the end, they won’t come into the consideration.
The characterizations given to all the characters are good and neat except for Ajay’s role. All the actors performed well. Akhil and Kalyani are the life of the movie. They are simple yet brilliant. Ramya Krishna is good with her role and her performance throughout is impressive. The first half appears a bit dull when compared to the second half of the movie but the magical touch to the film by Vikram made the film an impressive watch. The film is, technically very high. The fights, RR, Music and camera work is impressive. Vikram’s writing is good. On a whole, the film Hello is a simple and cute love story with great technical values and impressive performances. Go watch it.
